Representing numbers to 20 in different ways!
This St. Patrick's Day subitizing game can be used to expose students to number patterns that they can recognize quickly. It can help their brain to immediately recognize numbers 1-20 represented in different ways.
This game can be used both for individual monitoring and/or small group competition. For individual monitoring, each student will need a white board and marker. You can monitor what the students write on the white boards to check for understanding. For small group competition, you can create teams and have them compete to see which team gets the most correct answers.
This St. Patrick's Day subitizing resource aligns with the following standards:
* Read and write numerals from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20. – DOK Level 1
Count to answer “how many?! questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration given a number from 1-20 count out that many objects –DOK Level 1
Students need multiple opportunities to train their brains to subitize. This game will help them develop fluency in a fun way!
