What is subitizing?
Subitizing is seeing the number instantly without having to count. Teaching your students this skill will help students be able to recognize the number quickly and seeing how quantities can come together to make new quantities.
How do I get started?
Print and laminate cards first, this will allow the cards to last longer, you can also place them on a ring after punching a hole in them to keep neatly in one place. Start with just a few cards, or just the number 1, and have students count the number, each time you practice your students will be able to say the number without having to count.
When do I do this?
Math meeting, centers, small group, hall way work, flash cards, homework — the places that students can work on practicing subitizing is endless!
Included in this pack are 5 frame cards, 10 frame cards and circle dot cards.
