Sleds & Snowmen Winter Flash!
Beginning with visual representations of numbers less than 6 are perfect ways to help students’ with beginning subitizing! (Subitize - recognize the quantity of small groups of objects without counting them). Subitizing is an important foundational skill that prepares children for success in all future mathematics learning!
The “Sleds & Snowmen Winter Flash!”
resource includes 8½” X 11” snowmen five frames with one to five snowmen plus two additional sled cards for each number with different arrangements of sleds. This size makes easy viewing from anywhere in your classroom. (2 sets from which to choose: black/white and dark teal). Strategies for implementation and sample questions to use with the students to develop a solid base for learning number and determining level of understanding are also included. This game is meant to be fast paced and quick so have the cards ready to use whenever you have a small time slot (like lining up and waiting!). Students enjoy sharing their thinking about what they see and how they figured it out!
