In this escape room, students will review subject-verb agreement rules with these task cards that ask students to choose the correct verb and unscramble a secret phrase to win the game. Each card gives students a code that they input to get a letter in order to unscramble the secret phrase. There are five separate versions that contain the same numeric code answers on the task cards but that produce five different secret 16-letter phrases.
This product IS included in my subject-verb agreement bundle and my escape room bundle:
Subject Verb Agreement Bundle
Secondary English Escape Room Bundle
Your download includes
► 64 subject-verb agreement questions on 16 task cards
► one practice task card to model for students how to fill in answer code
► teacher & student instructions for Google and non-Google facilitation
► answer key for codes and secret word if teacher-led
► teacher tips page and link to video instructions
► student subject-verb agreement rules page
► five different Google Forms that contain the same numeric answers but a different secret code. Please note the student instruction pages are the same because the different unscramble phrases can be used with all forms.
► a page of suggestions on how to facilitate the escape room should students not complete the activity in one class period
In the Google-led facilitation (a quicker version), students input answers into a Google Form and are automatically told if their code is correct for each card and awarded a letter toward the secret phrase. A link is provided to direct you to the Google Form to share with students.
From start (my giving instructions) to finish (the first team finishing), the Google game averages about 25-30 minutes. If I include going over answers with students after game completion, the lesson takes 45-50 minutes.
In teacher-led facilitation (a lengthier version), teachers will check answers for students and award letters toward the secret phrase.
Rules covered include personal and indefinite pronouns, compound subjects, expletive subjects, collective nouns, and large amounts of nouns.
