This handout gives explanations and examples of 8 rules for subject verb agreement. The worksheet asks students to choose the verb that agrees in number with the subject of the sentence; then, students must tell which subject verb agreement rule helped them make their decision. Although this can certainly be used as individual work or homework, I always use it as a group work activity. I have had great success with this worksheet because it forces students to really dig into the rules instead of choosing the verb that "sounds right." And when students are working together, they are also more likely to talk through each sentence.
