Reach for the stars! It's a race to see who can gather the most stars! This PowerPoint is a fun, interactive way to practice subject pronouns. It uses embedded animation to engage students, provide immediate feedback, keep track of progress and, and allow for keeping for score for up to four teams. If you choose to use teams, assign a color to each team, (yellow, green, blue, or red). Choose how you want to proceed: who goes first? who can answer? what is required to earn a star?
I had students taking turns giving a number, preferably orally in Spanish. A quick way to assess a working knowledge of numbers and pronunciation. The self-checking nature of the PowerPoint allows for students to work in small groups, individually, or in pairs as allowed by computer access.
Each slide presents a people engages in real-life situation with photos. Given the situation students will determine the correct pronoun that the person speaking would use in that situation. If another person is involved in the situation, the first click will reveal the other person involved in the situation. When yo/I is the subject pronoun, no click is needed. After student/s have answered, click to reveal the Spanish subject pronoun. Before clicking again, you may want to have students give the English subject pronoun, which is revealed on the next click. Have students discuss where it falls on conjugation chart: singular/plural; 1st, 2nd, 3rd person. I found it useful to have not only one student give the answer orally, but require all students to write out the information. I also like to require students to explain their answers. After you're finished with the slide, click on the home icon in the lower, left corner. The white star will disappear and you will see 4 little, colored stars along bottom of the square. Click on the star corresponding to each team/person who met the requirements of a complete required answer. Before class ends, count the stars that are a the top of each square and determine the winner.
Each star square, is linked to one of the 25 squares. A series of clicks reveal the Spanish pronoun, it’s English equivalent, and then notes on the person. In total, there are 26 working slides plus an introductory slide and final slide.
This product is now part of a Bundle that includes the lesson, game, and much more.
