Student gumshoes track action around the building in an exercise that helps them discover the true meaning of a Subject and Predicate, creating simple but colorful sentences in the process. Use after introducing a simple sentence. Dispatch students in pairs to different areas of the building for 15 to 20 minutes, reminding them that sleuths are quiet and unobtrusive. Regroup after the activity for a read-around of each student's favorite sentence. This allows you to assess and correct as necessary until all students are successful.
