This is Unit 7 of 16 total units. This unit covers subordinating conjunctions and book titles as well as book titles from basic knowledge to depth of knowledge. A bundled set of the first eight units 230+ pages is available for $9.95.
Using these units will result in a total, complete, thorough package that addresses all of the Common Core standards for Language for third grade. They can be used as your main language source for teaching Language should you desire.
It was a joy making these. I intend to use an interactive notebook first as an introduction and then these pages.
Each standard is taught using a Depth of Knowledge approach. Each aspect contains a basic knowledge page and then moves the children through to the higher levels of Blooms Taxonomy. It is designed in a format that has a basic knowledge page followed by a higher level thinking page throughout the standard. Mostly all Depth of Knowledge pages have short answer type questions in which the student has to address more than one idea. It exposes them to the higher level vocabulary in Bloom’s Taxonomy. This is great for exposing your students to the academic language and writing style they’ll need to be successful on testing. In addition, it holds them accountable for critical thinking skills and proving they know the standard.
In addition what makes these units wonderful is they contain practice quizzes and quizzes for each standard. The quizzes and practice quizzes also have the student proving they understand basic knowledge as well as the higher level thinking skills. Every standard has this.
These units can be used many ways in the classroom. As was mentioned they can stand alone as your main language source. You can do a basic instructional page each day and then have the students work on the higher level pages. Or you can assign the higher level pages as homework.
This unit covers:
Book Titles and also usage in a sentence
Depth of Knowledge/Bloom's Action Verbs explain, construct, contrast, analyze, prove, differentiate, revise
In this unit you will find:
Cover page for a notebook should you desire to duplicate it as a notebook
A higher level thinking page after each basic knowledge page
The teacher may supply students with crayons, markers, or colored pencils as some pages require color and sorting, which is effective for spatial learning. The teacher may copy each page off individually or send to duplicating for notebooks in the students’ desks.
For a great, inexpensive source of continual practice and review of standards check out my DOL Morning Work pages. These pages have a teaching sentence followed by a practice sentence. Then, there are usually four practice test type questions which continually review concepts. It’s a spiral approach.
I hope that you find these units very beneficial. Thank you for checking out my products to help you and your students have a great year!
