I did this with fourth graders and tied it into their standards, but it could easily be scaled down to third and go as high as sixth.
This is a project I created to that asks students to pick one of four fictitious families. Each family has their own likes and dislikes that the students will have to uncover through research. Then they will need to figure out how they should spend their entertainment budget. Then they will present their findings through a Google Slideshow/Powerpoint.
A rubric is included that measures how well the groups handled the budget, how well their slideshow was put together and the reasoning they used.
