Product Description
If you are sick or have any other emergency, Pepper is here to provide you with a week's worth of entertaining half-hour substitute English reading and writing plans while learning a little history and geography, and practicing vocabulary. Just choose from the options and print and go.

PLEASE NOTE: This product contains PDF files in one handy package with clear directions for substitute teachers. These topics and activities are covered by Pepper in greater detail in her other products, which also include editable Word versions and PowerPoints. However, this product saves you the time of pulling them together yourself and writing up sub instructions. It works as a stand-alone package, with or without the rest of the more detailed products.

Pepper has included six topics and four activities to choose from, each of which lasts about 20 to 25 minutes. They are most suitable for students in Kindergarten and First Grade, about ages 6 to 7.

The topics included are:
By the Sea
Colors
Modes of Transportation
Holiday booklets: Halloween (in the fall) and Independence Day in the U.S. (in the spring)
Parts of the Body

The activities included are:
Holidays Go Fish or Memory game (play longer than 20 minutes if needed)
Pepper's paper pumpkin
Pepper's paper sparklers
Valentine card or Conquering bookmark

None of the topics or activities requires an overhead projector or other expensive classroom equipment other than a photocopier. If you print a copy of each and its accompanying directions, then a sub need only have access to a copier. The Go Fish or Memory game does work better on laminated cardstock, but could be printed on regular paper in a pinch. So Pepper recommends printing and laminating the game ahead of time.
