There are two games in this packet. One focuses on decomposing the number 10 into two parts. It uses one die. A student will roll the die and the number on the die will give the student his first part. The student will then have to figure out the remaining/missing part by subtracting what he rolled from 10. If the remaining part is on the next helmet, the player may move his game piece.
It is fun to use mini erasers in sports shapes for this game.
The second game was made more difficult for older students or to challenge those students who need extension activities.
The second game focuses on decomposing the number 20. It uses 2 dice. A student will roll the dice and then add the numbers to make the first part. He will then take this sum and SUBTRACT it from 20 to figure out the missing part. This game involves multiple steps.
I also included a recording sheet for each game, however, I don’t usually use this when my students play. ?
