This activity allows students to transition from subtracting objects to understanding the concept of number.
1) Example problem showing how to use the Subtraction Board
2) Blank, printable Subtraction Board
3) A series of Subtraction Problems Cards e.g. '5 - 3'
4) Answer Cards e.g. '2'
Each student is given an Subtraction Board and an addition problem card. The first step is to match the numbers on the card to the same number of material objects. The second step requires the subtraction problem to be solved.
