Subtracting across zeroes is a difficult concept for students to master. This set of 28 task cards provides students with additional practice to help them grasp the concept of regrouping when a zero is involved.
This set of cards also includes two new additions: an activity sheet that can be used for independent practice, homework, or as an assessment, and a sort that has the students determine if a subtraction has been answered correctly. They then are asked to solve the problems to find the correct difference.
Each card has also been assigned a QR code to make the cards self-checking for students who have an iPad or other device with a QR scanner. Please note: these cards CAN still be used without the QR scanner.
Task cards can be used for any number of activities. My students use them for math centers, but they can be used for games such as Scoot!, for math intervention activities, or for scavenger hunts by placing the questions around the classroom. The use of the cards is limited only by your creativity.
An answer key and student recording sheet have been provided if you choose to use these cards for a formative or summative assessment. There are two different versions of the recording sheet have been included.
