In this exciting treasure collecting game students will be working with their skills of rounding to aid them in the estimate of 2 or 3 digit subtraction problems. They will create 2 or 3 digit numbers and then estimate the difference between the numbers. If their estimation is correct, which is checked by the other players, they will be able to color in one of the treasures on the playing mat. The first player or team to color 10 treasures wins. A recording sheet to show the estimation process and work for the problem is included.
Note: You will need to make a set of number tiles. Each set needs 2 of each number asked for. I have done this with foam squares which I cut and then wrote the numbers on. I store them in zip-locks and we use them almost everyday.
