30 colorful practice cards
4 word problem worksheets with a picture for each problem
11 worksheets for students to write their own word problems based on a picture
1 blank template worksheet for students to draw their own model and create a word problem to match
With these worksheets, students practice solving word problems based on models and drawings. The many different food pictures on the trays make these problems fun for students to solve. The food pictures have also been strategically placed on the trays to provide for students to increase their ability to subitize. Subitizing is the ability to "see" a small amount of objects and know how many there are without counting.
Students will also have the opportunity to write their own word problems based on provided models and their own drawings.
I created the colored practice cards to supplement my calendar math program. There are a total of 30 color cards. I recommend you print the colored cards on cardstock and laminate the sheets. Once they have been laminated, cut the cards in the center. You can use a dry erase marker to write on the laminated cards. This allows students to continually practice a skill once a day, even after you’ve moved on to another standard. These cards have also been used for math centers, small group work, and math games.
