There are 24 gumballs with subtraction problems on them. There are 24 gumball machines with the answers on them. Students will need to think about the tens and ones in each problem and find the answer. They can split the tens and ones up into expanded notation to help them.
You can put this activity in a center for independent work. It can be used in a small group with an adult also.
