20 printable pages to help your students fluently subtract two, three and four-digit numbers while playing tic-tac-toe.
Each page has nine subtraction problems within a large Tic-Tac-Toe game. Students take turns with a partner solving a problem and then placing an X or O if they get it correct (partners check each other’s solution, so there is no need for you to grade their work). There are an additional four subtraction problems around the edges of each page, as well as eight mini-versions of Tic-Tac-Toe once students complete the subtraction practice. Nine pages focus on subtracting across zeros (or zeroes).
Students will love this activity for two reasons: they get to play a game while learning and they get to do their work with a friend. What better motivation is there? Learning can be fun!
