These math facts cards were created because I was tired of sorting through decks of cards to find the specific sets my students needed to practice. Inevitably, the students were at different levels of mastery, and letting them sort through to find the ones they needed meant loads of their time was spent sorting cards instead of practicing the facts. Shuffling through a large stack of cards to find all the ones, twos, threes, etc. not only took up my valuable time (and theirs!), but it was also a hassle to keep doing it repeatedly.
These cards are made in sets: ones, twos, threes, etc. Obviously, as the number increases the amount of cards decreases. Students have tangible evidence that they already know a lot of the math facts by the time they're halfway through the entire set. At that point, the cards can be mixed up to encourage memorization and recall of previously learned facts.
In addition, everyone wants their students to stop counting on their fingers, right? Once they understand the concept of math operations, fluency with math facts becomes a necessity. That's why these cards can be printed with the answer on the back of the math fact, in the form of an equation, so they can self-check and speed up the learning process.
There are two sizes of cards included: the large cards are approx. 3"x 3.75" and the small cards are about 2"x 2.5".
As a bonus, I've included instructions for a few games that can be played with the cards. PLUS I've added some game boards that make learning the facts much more fun. Who wants to keep using flash cards?! Certainly not our students! You can laminate the boards and write your own math facts in each square so the students can practice their mastery with a friend.
