VERY UNIQUE DRAWING ASSIGNMENT!
This subtractive drawing assignment is meant for any upper level drawing course. Included is a grading rubric and a written critique section.
Need a new project idea for your students to work on? Try this one. In this project students will use an eraser to draw with, rather than a traditional medium such as pencil/pen/pastel. They will create a surface with two tones of any chalky medium, and then draw in a SUBTRACTIVE manner with their eraser, revealing different levels of value. This will get students to think more before they make a mark; it's a fun, challenging change of pace for a drawing class.
