This product includes read aloud discussion questions with accompanying slides, text talk activities where students have exposure to Tier II vocabulary from the text, as well as a written activity reflecting on the text and using the newly acquired vocabulary.
Read Aloud: When reading a book aloud, we often stop to ask our students comprehension and inferential questions about the text. However, for students with language processing delays or students just learning English, having those questions you’ve just asked displayed helps them process and come up with an answer. This content- and vocabulary-rich story is Part 1 of this product.
Text Talk: Now that you’ve read this book, there are some Tier II vocabulary words that you would love your students to start integrating into their speaking and writing. But how?!?! By creating some quick and easy activities to reinforce the meaning of the word. I play these activities once we’ve completed a text. (Part 2)
Writing: In order to ensure language mastery, I have my students engage in a writing activity which allows them to practice general writing skills as well as utilizing new vocabulary. The differentiated writing activity that you can do in class or assign for homework helps students practice writing (and speaking/presenting!) using these new words.
