This lesson teaches the following concepts:
• Success through persistence
• Setting and achieving goals
• Dealing with failure in a positive way
• Putting 100% effort into your work/dreams/etc.
• The cost of giving up
• Effort is related to success
• Reaching goals depends on choices you make
This presentation has 25 slides and includes links to 9 different videos which will support the concepts that you are teaching. It is centered around an Olympic theme and links the concepts of DETERMINATION + EFFORT = SUCCESS. The videos help to make an emotional connection with students so that they can relate to the concept of putting your best into what you do, not giving up (even when it is hard), setting goals, making a plan to attain those goals, and dealing with failure. Dedication, hard work, and sacrifice are necessary to be successful.
I have also included a goal-setting worksheet that you can copy and paste into a word document to print off for your students, or you can download the PDF version from my store at this address: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Setting-SMART-Goals-Study-Skills-WORKSHEET-Character-Ed-PBIS-2355106
I would schedule 30-45 minutes for this lesson. This lesson is easily customizable and appropriate for both upper primary and intermediate levels.
The PowerPoint includes both animations and transitions to hold your students' interest. It also has a soft musical background fill. Make your lesson come alive for your students and help them to connect to the concept in a fun way that will help them to remember the important lessons you need for them to remember.
