This poster is part of the "How To Be A Successful Student' collection of classroom management, positive behavior intervention and support (PBIS), and behavior response to intervention (RTI:B) products. The author received the "Outstanding School Psychologist of the Year" for her research and development on this product.
It includes 20 positive classroom behaviors that were derived from observational research on teacher nominated "most successful students". The Successful Student Behaviors are sorted into 4 practical categories relevant to academic achievement: Study Skills, Communication, Social, and Personal skills. The categories are color coded and each assigned an icon and hand gesture for silent recognition by students.
The 20 numbered behaviors provide positive alternatives to negative classroom behaviors. One genius "California Teacher of the Year" taught her first grade students all the behaviors and simply referred to them by number when needed. She reported this strategy enormously improved the classroom management of her already well organized center-based class.
The behaviors, numbers, color coding, icons, and gestures are consistent throughout the "How To Be A Successful Student" collection of products.
