Students will create a poster related to succession. Each student will select a picture and explain how it is related to succession, which type of succession is occurring,
the importance of succession, and the purpose of a climax community. Students must include and/or define at least 5 key vocabulary words such as equilibrium, pioneer species, disturbance, lichens, moss, primary succession, secondary succession, climax community, species, and biodiversity. My students enjoyed this poster and it was a great formative assessment. Students are expected to be creative and elaborate. Giving the students an opportunity to select their picture helped with their "buy in".
