In this lab, students will be studying primary succession in a marine fouling community. This is a hands-on lab! Students will also be determining if the type of material has any effect on the rate of settling for fouling communities.
This download includes a lesson plan that gives you a description, instructions for doing the lab, keywords, and materials list among other things! It also includes a 2-page student handout that can be copied for student use. It has a table to record observations.
NOTE: This lab requires access to an ocean or lake. It is great for a hands-on academic camp or a school that lives close to that source and can take several field trips (would need at least 3-4 trips to the body of water)
