The principles of succession can be observed as students graph the populations of three species of trees over the course of 100 years on an abandoned farm field. This resource provides the student data sheet to graph as well as custom graphic paper that comes with and without the axis labeled. This allows you to differentiate assignment.
The grading rubric for the graph is provided, as is a 10 question worksheet that could be a homework assignment or even a short formal assessment on this topic. On the worksheet, students must answer questions from a data table that contains population numbers. Answer key included.
