Sudoku puzzles are great for young children. They require problem solving and critical thinking skills. I wasn't sure if my kindergarten students would be able to do these at first. I was pleasantly surprised that every student was able to complete the 3 x 3 puzzles. Once they were shown how to do one, they could do the others on their own.
This PDF includes 4 different 3 x 3 puzzles with 3 shapes missing from each. There are two versions of each puzzle. One version has the missing shapes that can be cut and paste onto the puzzle board. In the other version, the students can draw the missing shapes on the puzzle board.
Once students understand the concept of the game, these puzzles can be used as a fast finisher or as a file folder game. I will be developing more Sudoku puzzles with different themes.
