I created this sort to have the students practice identifying the suffixes -ish, -ness and -able in words. The students' directions are to underline the base word and circle the suffix, then cut and sort the words into the correct category. I thought this would be great practice for reading the words that contain suffixes, and with underlining the base words. The more they read and work with these words, the more natural it will become to spell the base words and apply the appropriate suffix. Great for any spelling program that works on suffixes! Also check out my MANY other vowel team, r-controlled vowels, and suffix sorts, as well as my unit word searches and trick word word searches! Also, my Suffix Spin activities are great for applying meaning to the suffixes. Enjoy!
