This suffix word sort is can be used as a center activity, hands-on lesson, or as a formative assessment. This activity is ready to immediately print and use. Students are to cut out the words on page 7. They are to then sort the words based upon the meaning of the suffixes in the word. For example, the word teacher would be pasted under the category “a person who.” Once they complete the word sort, students are then to write each word into the correct table by separating the base word from the suffix and then telling how the suffix changes the meaning of the base word. Students are then to choose one word from each category and use it in a detailed sentence. This is great assessment data for CCSS L3.4!
