Updated 9/20/15: A unit of study on the U.S. Constitution is a great time to explore the "shun" sounds created when the suffix -ion is added to a base/root word. (With and without associated spelling changes.) Even middle school students struggle with this concept (mine included).
This packet is what I lovingly refer to as a "Print, Copy, & Go" product; most of the activity pages have been created in black/white to help save your ink, lamination, and other "time drainers" that today's busy teachers could simply do without!
As a bonus, your purchase entitles you to free upgrades (forever), and I will be adding more printer-friendly word sorts and activities over the next few weeks. Great for patriotic words, no doubt! But, the new pages will cover a wide range of spelling patterns, structures, and more!
In this first packet, you will find:
★ two sorting mat designs
★ an introductory word sort for the suffix -ion
★ a bonus sort that focuses on syllables and spelling changes
★ a choice of two printable word card templates for students
★ a detailed page for students about creating their own sorts
★ a student favorite; foldable star shape to extend word study to independent reading and/or time
Thank you for your purchase! Be sure to check your "My Purchases" page for newly added pages and activities!
