This set of 24 task cards was created for my phonics pack for Reading Street grade 3, however is a great resource for those teaching, introducing, or looking for extra practice on base words when adding endings, specifically-ful, -ly, -ness, and -less. This particular set focuses on identifying the phonics rules as you add different endings to base words.
Cards come with 3 types of questions.
#1-8 - Multiple choice test prep questions asking students to identify the meaning of the word containing a suffix using context clues
#9-16 - Requires students to identify the correct suffix in a word given with both a base word and suffix
#17-24- Requires students to choose a suffix to correctly add to a base word
The set comes with a recording sheet, answer sheet, and QR codes with answers. I use the QR codes in my classroom to have my students self assess their own progress.
I personally like to use these in an independent station while I am in guided reading, however they also work great as a Scoot-Around-the-Room game for whole class review.
You can find this product as a part of my larger phonics pack for suffixes of -ful, -ly, -ness, and -less here:
