This product includes three sets of task cards with 32 cards in each set for a total of 96 cards. Each set deals with a different rule for adding suffixes to base words (silent "e," doubling consonants, and tricky "y.") Most of the cards in each set require students to apply the given rule; however, for some of the cards, the rule is not applied. This will help to ensure that your students truly understand when to apply each rule. The format is the same for all 96 cards.
Several student answer sheets are also provided: one for 24 cards in case you do not want to use the entire set, as well as two choices for using all 32 cards. You may want to use 24 cards for practice and the remaining 12 for assessment. Answer keys are also provided along with a challenge card that can be used in conjunction with any other card to extend the activity. In addition there are also three posters to help students remember each of the three suffix rules. These task cards are perfect for test prep and will work well at literacy centers, stations, for partner work, or with the whole class using a game like Scoot.
This product is also available in a money-saving Prefixes, Suffixes, and Roots Task Card Bundle
The cards will look best in color, but will also print out fine in grayscale. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Alternatively, you could print on cardstock. It works well to keep them in a baggie. Another option is to hole-punch a corner of each card and put them all on a ring.
