Description

Suffixes Task Cards, a Digital Resource for Google Slides, provides students in middle school and upper elementary grades with practice on the important vocabulary skill of using suffixes. Included are lots of suffixes and a variety of activities. Both the digital resource and a PDF version are included in this file.

Practicing with these cards, students learn the meanings/parts of speech that various suffixes give to a word, and they learn to build and use words with suffixes.

The activities include:

  • Word maps
  • Fill in the blanks
  • Define the words
  • Word pairs
  • Illustrate the meanings
  • Suffixes tell parts of speech
  • Sort

See the preview for more sample cards.

This resource includes BOTH the digital slides with one card per slide and a PDF version with two cards per page for printing. The answer key will be found in the PDF, and there is also a list of suggestions for ways to use task cards and a list of ways to differentiate for students of differing abilities. Also included in the PDF is a blank answer sheet for students to use to write their responses.

This Google Slides version of the task cards is ready for student use with text boxes or movable pieces already in place for student responses.

The text in this resource is not editable.

These digital task cards are designed specifically for middle grade kids with more content per card than many task cards – perfect for older kids who can handle more than one quick question per card.

Providing practice in the use of suffixes is a great way to help students develop their reading comprehension and written composition skills as well as their vocabulary. The variety of cards in this set will make it easy to differentiate for students of different abilities or students who work at different rates.

These task cards support Common Core standards for both reading and language.

For the Easel version, see Suffixes Task Cards.
