I designed this lab to use with Virginia science SOL 1.3. Students will dissolve sugar cubes in hot and cold water and record the time they took on their lab page.
Students work in pairs. They make a prediction, test out the materials, record their results, revisit their prediction, and then reflect.
As preparation, I place 2-3 drops of red or blue food coloring so students remember which cube goes in hot and cold water.
