A number of people have asked me which stories they should teach after Había una vez – Year 1. It is challenging to give a recommended scope and sequence because I wrote these stories while working at three different schools, so they align with separate curricula. However, if you would like to take the individual stories in my TPT store and work them into a full curriculum, I recommend teaching them in the following sequence.
Eventually, these stories will be incorporated into the full Había una vez curriculum, which will span kindergarten through fourth grade. I am currently working on Year 1 and have sketched out plans for Years 2, 3, 4, and 5. Each year will include five sets of stories. Because I work full time, it takes me months to create each set, so the full Había una vez curriculum is a long-term project. In the meantime, I have created this recommended scope and sequence to give teachers a framework for teaching the stories. Please understand that this is an imperfect list; the stories were not designed to build on each other, so they do not flow as well as the stories in “Había una vez – Year 1”. This is a very rough guide. Expect to supplement the stories on this list with additional resources, activities, and class-created stories.
As I develop additional years for the Había una vez curriculum, many of the stories in this list will be revised and expanded. The great news is that if you purchase the stories now, you will have access to all of the revisions and additional resources as I create them.
