Children all respond to death very differently. With a suicide, common reactions include unjustified guilt it was their fault, anger because they feel blindsided, lied to, and abandoned, fear of other loved ones or themselves one day committing suicide, shame due to the stigma, and a significant discomfort in sharing their pain.
This therapy game invites the opportunity for children to share their story, express their feelings, practice and discuss coping skills, learn about common reactions to a suicide, and for children to offer advice to others who have also lost someone to suicide.
This resource includes 2 psychoeducational handouts on suicide reactions and self-care strategies, a variety of game board choices, and an alternative option to use any of the 100 task card questions with Jenga® wooden blocks. A helpful therapy tool for individual or small group counseling.
