***Summarizing at its Finest!***
12 Task Cards: Non-Fiction Informational Text Paragraph Cards, CCSS Aligned
Each of these 12 Task Cards features a short, nonfiction paragraph. Students read one passage at a time and use their graphic organizer to write a summary.
*The first 6 cards follow the graphic organizer: "Someone, Wanted, But, So, Then"
*Cards 7-12 follow a different set up because some paragraphs are not able to be summarized by a "Someone, Wanted, But, So, Then" set up. There is another graphic organizer provided that requires students to analyze the information in the passage.
There is also a challenge summary portion that requires students to write a summary in 18 words or less.
By using graphic organizers, summarizing becomes much more manageable.
A sample answer key is also included.
Since summarizing is such a difficult skill, included with this pack is a poster to remind students of how to write a great summary.
These cards will look best in color, but will also print great in black and white. Simply print and cut. You can laminate and use them again and again or if laminating isn't an option, just keep them in a baggie.
