Lesson 1: Students are grouped and are asked to organize story parts based on what part of the summary they are.
Lesson 2: Student color code summaries based on the summary parts
Lesson 3: Students cut, sort, and glue summaries with too little, too much, and just the right information
Lesson 4: Students use sticky notes in groups to create a summary from a short text
Lesson 5: Students create a 'blind date' with a book display by wrapping books in brown kraft paper and writing their final summaries on the outside of the cover.
All activities are more hands-on than normal summarizing worksheets. Direction pages and real photographs are also included! A graphic organizer, bookmark, anchor chart, craftivity, & center are all also included!
Digital pieces can be used in Google Slides, Google Classroom, and PowerPoint.
Each of the summarizing activities is designed to have a whole group and small group pieces and the lessons are designed to be done in order, but you of course can use the activities as you please!
