This resource consists of detailed directions on how to do a summary reading card using Bloom’s, a ten point grading rubric for the teacher, a sample of the back and front of a summary card, and a detailed overview of Bloom’s Taxonomy with sample questions for each level. The required reading summary is done on 5” x 8” file cards so there is not a great deal of writing for the student, and because a rubric is already developed, grading is quick and easy for the teacher.
Since most classes require a reading to be done outside of class, many students fail to do the assignment and come unprepared, but it is essential that every student come equipped to learn. If you make the summary card required, it forces the students to read or at least scan the reading.
