Summarizing Literary Texts *FREEBIE*

PDF (268 KB|1 page)

Use this graphic organizer to help students practice writing a summary of literary texts! The "Somebody, Wanted, But, So, Then, (Finally)" boxes help your students take notes of the most important information in the text. "Finally" is in parentheses because sometimes you need a final to add a final detail to wrap it up, but sometimes you don't. They just leave it blank if they don't need it.

Then at the bottom, there are lines for your student to use the notes they took to write a 2-3 sentence summary.

If you'd like to see how I used this graphic organizer in my classroom, check out my blog post.
