Product Description
This Print and Go resource focuses on main idea, details, sequencing, reading comprehension and context clues-all in one! Summarizing a paragraph can be a difficult concept for beginning readers and students who have difficulty with receptive and expressive language skills. Their comprehension of the story can be missing or mixed up. They may often have difficulty putting the story in order due to the inability to sequence. This 23 useable page (print and go) activity addresses comprehension, giving details, sequencing, retelling, and creating a title for a paragraph. These skills are imperative for critical thinking skills and analysis of reading material.
This activity begins with a short paragraph to be read aloud for the student or for the student to read. After listening to or reading the paragraph, the student will cut out three main details of the paragraph and glue them in the correct sequence in the designated squares. After gluing them in the correct squares, the student will then write one sentence that summarizes the paragraph and the three pictures in his/her own words. This will also help the student determine the main idea and create a title for the paragraph.

Sample IEP Objectives that fit this activity;

After listening to or reading a paragraph, Student will correctly sequence three associated pictures with % accuracy or ___ trials as measured by documented observation.

After reading or listening to a paragraph and sequencing related pictures, Student will write a sentence in her own words that summarizes the paragraph with % accuracy or __/___ trials as measured by documented observation.

After reading or listening to a paragraph, Student will formulate a title that best describes the story with % accuracy or _/_ trials as measured by documented observation.

By date, Student will determine the main idea of a paragraph by determining a suitable title for the paragraph with % accuracy or _/_ trials as measured by documented observation.
