This document includes:
-the short story "The Terrible Old Man" by H. P. Lovecraft (divided into three parts)
-worksheets for every activity
-an answer key at the end
Divide the class into three groups so each reads one part of the short story "The Terrible Old Man" by H. P. Lovecraft. Using the worksheets, students write notes on the main ideas of their part, then write a short summary using only their notes.
Once complete, they report to each other on their part of the story, and take notes. The best way to do this is to form three-person groups, each consisting of one person who has read each part of the story.
Afterward, everyone should be able to summarize the whole story.
I usually review with the class, and ask my students to explain a part of the story they heard about from another student.
