The worksheets contained in the file are great for practicing writing summaries. They use the keywords SOMEBODY, WANTED, BUT, SO, and THEN to start each sentence. By using these keywords, it allows each section to be one sentence long while still telling the idea of the story in a simple, consise summary. I originally created these as book report forms to send home. They can also be used in the classroom. I have included some that are for a specific genre of reading, i.e. fantasy or realistic fiction, but there is also a general set of directions that does not specify which genre. That particular one would be useful as a classroom worksheet or group work page to create a summary for a reading story or read aloud story.
