This reading log is designed to support summary writing using four steps demonstrated in the Step Up to Writing program.
Step One: In the first box students are to identify the subject they are summarizing.
Step Two: In the second box students should select a T.E.D. verb. The T.E.D. verbs are tells, explains, or describes.
Step Three: In the third box students finish their thought about the book or chapter they read.
Step Four: Students rewrite their summary sentence on the lines below the boxes using proper punctuation and capitalization rules.
There are also spots for parent to verify their child did the required nightly reading and for students indicate if they passed a Reading Counts or Accelerated Reader quiz.
