Do you have a middle school student you are tutoring this summer? Perhaps students in Extended School Year programs? Or do you have a BORED child at home?
The Summer Fiction Reading Unit from Teach2Write is a fun, engaging way for a child to read a fiction book and interact with the text. This common core aligned unit is appropriate for grades 6-8, and includes a reading journal as an end product.
Included in the unit are:
- instructions for teacher or parent
- a complete reading journal that can be printed
- foldables and other hands-on activities
- expository writing in the form of an advice letter to the main character about their problem
- vocabulary study
- 2 column notes
- plot chart
- setting comic strip
- end of journal response
The unit includes a grading rubric that the teacher can use to assess the overall journal or a parent can use to see how their child did.
The foldables are complete with pictures and instructions. So, grab a book and have some summer reading fun!
