This packet was made for summer reinforcements of skills learned during the school year. It is meant for teachers, SLPs, or parents.
The pack includes 16 family activity suggestions and academic activities, games, graphic organizers, or worksheets to go along with each activity.
The 16 activities are laid out in a Bingo game board, and students are asked to have a parent sign a bingo square each time they complete an activity. They are encouraged to complete 8 activities for a prize, and 16 activities for an extra special prize. A parent letter is included explaining everything. Of course, the pack is flexible, and can be tweaked to fit your individual class or child's needs.
Skills addressed include: following directions, reading comprehension, story elements, summarizing, comparing and contrasting, categorizing, descriptive concepts, creative writing, phonology, expressive language, and journaling.
Activity suggestions include: Making a recipe, reading a book, watching a movie, going to the zoo, a nature scavenger hunt at the park, looking for shapes in the clouds, writing a story, completing a Mad Libs story, an alphabet scavenger hunt, "What am I" game (similar to the headbands game), going to the library, a picture scavenger hunt, going camping, visiting the farmer's market, putting on a play or puppet show, and keeping a summer journal.
With this packet, your students or children will be having so much fun, they won't even realize they're learning. The packet promotes family togetherness, authentic experiences, and of course, language and literacy concepts.
