This is a set of six beautifully designed and formatted games that your departing first graders, or incoming second graders, can do over the summer. Instead of doing a cruddy worksheet once and tossing it out, these are games that your families can play all summer long, right up to the first day of second grade, when your little charges will be ultra-prepared to DO MATH!
Here's what's on tap:
Salute! This is an easy game to set up with the included number cards or a deck of playing cards. Can be played with 2 or 3 players, and everybody practices addition and subtraction facts.
Four Coin Draw: Got a sock? Got some coins? Using these game boards, your kids can practice coin identification AND adding them together. Comes in several different variations to practice using different coins.
Add or Subtract: Take 2 numbers and add them together, as well as subtract the smaller from the larger. Use one of them to place a marker on the board.
Take From Ten: Players work cooperatively to fill a path by rolling a die and subtracting a number from 10. Comes in 4 different variations with different numbers.
Roll and Record: Players predict the outcome of a series of die, choosing between adding them together or choosing one to record. Great strategy game with surprising outcomes.
Close to 10, 20 and 0: players pick 4 cards and use 3 of them to make sums that are close to 10 or 20, or make a difference close to 0. Whomever has the LOWEST score wins!
Includes beautifully designed 0 - 10 primary number cards.
