The summer provides the perfect opportunity to help prepare students for skills that they will learn in the upcoming grade. I have created a set of 32 task cards that represent many of the skills that your student will be exposed to when they enter the Second Grade. Give your student an extra boost by exposing them to these important skill-driven skills now while you have more time to assist and encourage them.
•addition~ double digits + double digits and three digit + two digits
•subtraction~double digits - double digits
•Writing numbers in expanded form
•Writing numbers in standard form
•Counting coins (front view of coins and back view of coins)
•Do I have enough money to buy __?
•Telling Time ~ Various increments (by five minutes)
•Plural and Singular
•Commas in a Series
•Manipulatives ~ Base Ten Rods & Coins for students to use as learning tools/aids
•Two coloring sheets for fun
•Recording Sheet - No numbers featured to allow students to work on any task card that they choose at any given time.
♦Print and cut out each card individually. Store the cards in an envelope, pencil pouch, plastic storage container, or plastic storage bag for convenience, easy access, and portability.
→This will allow students to simply select a hand full of cards to practice at any given time. Selecting cards randomly may provide a sense of newness or surprise, and increase student engagement.
♦ Print each page and keep them intact.
→This will allow students to focus on one specific skill at a time.
♦Cards can be laminated for durability, or they can be printed and written on or highlighted. If you choose to laminate the cards, you can "highlight" responses with an Expo Marker.
♦Please note that the total number of slides listed always includes:
•Directions for Use (when applicable)
