We all want students to read over the summer, but we hate the fall when we have to give them tests over what they read. If they read the book weeks before, how will they perform on the test? However, if we don't give them a test, many of them won't read the assignment. This summer reading assignment (2 pages) requires students to make up their own questions pertaining to the book and then answer them in such a way that the teacher can tell that they indeed read the material. The handout also gives instructions on how the assignment can be modified to allow students to work in groups and turn in one assignment for the group (and save grading time for the teacher).
