Summer Reading Activity-“Cover Up” for rising 1st-5th graders! Incentive!
This activity is sure to be a hit with all the kids in your school! This is a great way to provide literacy activities without it seeming like a chore! There are two different boards; one for rising 3rd to 5th graders and the other for rising 1st and 2nd graders. The activities also vary. The idea is to cover up the board by completing all the activities. However, because the product is editable, you can choose to add incentives for the amount of activities completed. Included are also bookmarks that you can use as incentives, in both color and black and white. An adult needs to sign off on each activity the child completes. The two boards come in both color and black and white. They both have links to websites if kids choose to visit them. They are hyperlinked so that if you post this activity on your school’s website, parents or kids can click directly on the link. However, when you print the boards out, kids and parents will have to type in the addresses to the sites manually or Google them. For the 3-5 board, there are two supplemental activities that those grade will need; one is a book recommendation and the other is a book log. This would be additional items to copy and add to the parent letter and board. For the k-2 kids, they will only need a book log with the parent letter and board of activities. The parent letter is editable so that you can add your school’s signature.
In short, you only need to print off the parent letter, the boards, and book logs for all the kids and for the upper grade kids you will also need to print the book recommendation form. You will need to add incentives to each board. See preview. There are sample ideas in the “How to Use This Product” information page included in the product.
