Reading Challenge - Students will read different genres and then cut and paste the matching "stamp" into their little log booklet. Stop the "summer slide" and keep your students reading throughout the summer. They will be eager to read to collect their stamps for the log. This reading log is great for the summer, but it can be used at any time throughout the year! This reading log can also be used by parents or grandparents.
Teacher Tips to Create the Log Book:
Copy a Reading Log cover page for each student. To save ink, use the black and white version and let students color it themselves.
Copy booklet pages 3-10 along with the Book Stamp pages for each student.
Cut in half along the line. Stack the pages in order and staple. Put the stamp pages in the back.
For more durability, cut a file folder in half. Place the booklet pages inside prior to stapling. Glue the front cover onto the front of the file folder. This makes a more durable “book jacket”.
Discuss with students the requirements or rewards for earning all of the stamps in the booklet.
